Elizabeth A. Heaphy
Ms. Heaphy joined Cuddy & McCarthy in 2024. Her practice focuses on employment law, organizational law, and commercial litigation.
In the employment sphere, Ms. Heaphy counsels clients on a wide range of legal matters, including compliance with Title VII, the ADA, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the FMLA. She assists employers with creating policies; negotiating agreements; and evaluating hiring and termination decisions. Ms. Heaphy also handles employment litigation and represents clients in investigations before government agencies.
Additionally, Ms. Heaphy regularly represents for-profit and non-profit entities with business disputes; organizational and governance questions; and regulatory issues. She particularly enjoys conducting in-depth legal research about contract law and property law.
Ms. Heaphy moved to Albuquerque in 2000, after receiving her BA from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Columbia University. She worked as a federal judicial clerk for three years—first for Judge Parker of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico and then for Judge Hartz of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Following these clerkships, Ms. Heaphy worked as an associate attorney and shareholder at a local firm for many years.
